THIS MONTH FEATURES HORO FROM BULGARIA
Join Svetla Ganeva-Morrison on November 14th at the Exchange House to learn an easy, but fun popular Bulgarian group dance every Bulgarian knows, called “Horo.” Horo dance is part of the Bulgarian cultural heritage and is a popular shared dance experience on folklore festivals, weddings and other community events. For horo dance people hold their hands as they form a circle or semicircle and dance usually moving counterclockwise. The person who is on the right of the line is considered “leader”. There are over 100 known dances or “Hora” (plural for horo) in the Bulgarian region only. However, horo is a popular group dance in all countries from the Bolkan region as well.
For this session at the Exchange House we will learn the simplest of the horo dances called “Pravo horo”. If there is time left and interest we might attempt learning a more complex dance afterwards 😉
